The Community and Protecting Endangered Native Forest

At Santa Rosa de Lavaderos there´s a strong community. As one of the major employers of the valley, we strive to give good working conditions. In previous years the farm has been certified as Fairtrade.

Protecting Endangered Native Forest

Our major contribution though has to do with protecting the native Sclerophyllous forest of the hills which border the Maule river, please visit this website for information on the project. The farm has more than 400 acres of hills with this endangered Mediterranean forests and scrub; the margins of the Maule River also create small areas with swamps where wildlife thrives (especially birds). They´re characterized by a climate with hot and dry summers, with cool and rainy winters; it is limited to very few places in the world, such as California, parts of Australia, South Africa and the Mediterranean basin.

Packaging

At Kodkod we strive to use “Eco” bottles for our wines, manufactured with technology that minimizes the amount of glass while maintaining its resistance. This means fewer raw materials, reduced energy use in manufacturing and transport.
